Law firm Hamburger Evron & Co. operates one of the most creative renewable energy departments in Israel’s legal sector.
While ‘traditional’ sources of energy are dwindling, the field of renewable energy, based on non-depleting resources such as sunlight, wind, wave power, and more, are moving to center stage in the field of energy generation. Fortunately, the State of Israel is rich in renewable energy resources.
The extensive experience accrued by Hamburger Evron & Co. in the planning and building field, led to a growing practice in the energy generation sector. Ultimately this expertise led to the establishment of a new legal department dedicated to this specialty field, led by Ronen Yardeni and Steven Berelowitz.
The Renewable Energy Department is composed of a skilled team, bringing together attorneys from the diverse range of disciplines required in the field of energy, with particular emphasis on real estate, planning and zoning, construction, operation and maintenance agreements, financing, and international transactions. The multidisciplinary team brings added value to the integrated approach vital to this field.
The Department has gained considerable experience from representation of numerous companies and private entities, including local and foreign investors, on matters related to the establishment of a variety of renewable energy projects in Israel, Europe and Africa. It specializes in representing clients on planning, constructing, financing and operating renewable energy projects with specific expertise in the field of solar energy. Among others, the team represents solar energy entrepreneurs and companies from small facilities (with a capacity of up to 50 kilowatts), medium-sized facilities, and through to clients building large solar power plants (up to 100 megawatts) in Israel and abroad.
Our legal representation covers, inter alia, agreements for the construction, operation and maintenance of solar energy facilities, and proceedings related to regulatory approvals from the Electricity Authority and vis-à-vis the Israel Land Administration. We also act on behalf of our clients to obtain building permits for construction of solar facilities (whether on rooftops or on the ground). We provide legal counsel vis-à-vis all the large banks to obtain project financing and achieve financial closing, prepare the documents required to obtain electricity generation licenses, advise entrepreneurs on the purchase of solar farms in Europe, and generally support our clients in the field with ongoing counsel.
In recent years, the Department won a number of commendations, including:
